Couldn't believe my eyes. I was stuffing the buns basket with hay and I grabbed what I thought was a chunky fiberous bit, but it was a bit smelly then I looked at it more closely and it is most definately a piece of snake :shock::shock::shock: I've taken a picture but I'm having difficulties loading it up to photobucket I'll try again later!

I found a dried mouse, that was mank. I know someone who found a whole dead rabbit. Not sure how that happened because you'd think it would be too big and would get noticed. But GROSS! I am intrigued by these snake pictures. I think that makes me sick, lol.

it was quite a shocker especially as I was taking the hay out in a dark place I thought it was a lump of woody stuff then thought it was a lump of manure clumped in hay lifted it too my nose and got that whiff of decay I took it into a well lit area and nearly heave when I realised!

Eeeeew - that's manky. I've had 2 massive squished cochroaches - in expensive brands too not farmy ones!

Don't read on if you're squeamish - my boyfriend says when he was younger and playing at a farm there was a cats head at one end of the bale and its body at the other! :cry: You'd think there would be some sort of sensor to stop objects getting through, or am I being a bit ahead of farming technology there?! :?

OMG that's awful :shock: I guess stuff just gets processed by farm machinery with no quality contolled so any creatures roaming around the farm are likely to end up in it poor ol' puss!

Im taking it in to work tomorrow to see if someone can identify it! Not sure whether to take it back to the shop or not I figured that's a hazard of buying cheapy hay! Couple of months ago I had to take a naturals gnaw stone back because if had a wormy thing crawling in the rose petals!! Bad luck or what!

:shock::shock::shock:

I once found a dead dried up mouse, and also I am forever finding feathers in my hay. Not sure how I'd react to a snake, but if I ever found a rat, even a dead one, I would FREAK!!!!

Ok I am now really disturbed... should we name and shame the hay brnads/makers in question so that if we ever have to buy that brand we know to be cautious!!!

Boudicca
27-01-2009, 01:44 PM
The bag in question doesn't have any writing on it its just clear plastic. Its quite cheap and I assume must be a local supplier. I bought it from Sea Pets....I shouldn't really be going there as they sell bunnies and small hutches :oops: now I can add dodgy hay to the list! I will let them know.

BTW a colleague at work said its quite hard to tell, but looks like a grass snake rather than an adder as there wasn't much in the way of patterned scales visible!
