My lops ears sometimes stick up...?

Jools

New Kit
When I first got Hamish (mini lop) his ears were like a normal lops. But since then he's started to put them up alot more (he is about 6 months old now). He never has them down anymore they're always sticking out sideways (sometimes slightly below, which makes him look a bit more lop-ish), sometimes he has one up and one down, and sometimes actually puts both up!

I don't mind that his ears stick up of course, I'm just wondering if theres something wrong with him? I'm pretty sure he isn't deaf or bad hearing because he responds to sound very well. I can also assure you that he is a complete mini lop - I got him from my friend who breeds mini lops to show.

So if anyone could tell me why this is, it would be great. Thanks =).

It's quite common. A rabbit's ears lop depending on their crown, so a very lose/wide crown will have the ears right over, but a closer, tighter one will have them possibly as aeroplane ears, or upright.

It may be your guy is a mix, or just has a tighter crown than other mini lops. It's a very cute look in a rabbit, I think.

If he starts shaking his ears or head, or scratching them a lot, of there is discharge or crust inside, then it would be worth getting him checked out.

Fudge sometimes can put one ear up at a time mainly after I stroke them up he can hold them sometimes, I think it looks really cute:love:
