Salty water and Vaseline for sore hocks?

LionheadLuver

The vet suggested that I put salty water and vaseline on Molly's hocks. Wouldn't this make them softer and more open for infection? Or should I leave them to harden on their own?

the vet i see uses a type of honey on her rex's sore feet, she said its worked wonders due to natural ingredients!

cant remember what type though

Sounds like he had suggested the salt water as an anti bacterial and the vaseline to sooth the skin. Sudocreme does the job of both.

salt water dries the skin out hense why you were suggested to use vasaline after i wouldnt use it to be honest not for feet i use a tiny bit of sudo creme and use a fleece blanket of vet bed until healed linus gets sore from time to time
