  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Rearguard....

Last year i got rearguard from the vets just to ease my worry about the buns getting flystrike!
Just wondering when i should start again, It normally lasts 9 weeks and then i rearguard again! i just dont want to do it too early.
Thanks :D:wave:

I would wait until it gets a little warmer. There's not going to be a huge number of flies about when its as cold as it is so the risk of flystrike should be very low i'd have thought. I'm sure you keep their hutch spotless so you shouldn't attract the odd flies that are about.

Thanks! well they are indoor bunnies just now, they are getting their shed delivered within the next 2 weeks to get furnished for them going out in March/april time! They are kept very clean so no flies just now! I will maybe do it just before they go outside to live!

Thanks again:D:wave:

I would maybe do them when they go back out if it's April, saying that it really does depend on how warm it is *hope it will be warm by then*.
