Exotic Vets

raine

Warren Veteran
Can I ask members to have a look at the attached list and to indicate if you use any of these "exotic vets". This is a list I have found on the internet and it would be very helpful if you have experience of any of these practices in your region. Forgive the title of the link:roll:

We used these when I was a kid for our dogs and my rabbits then but I was too young to remember the actual vets name at the time.

Incidently Yorkshire appears to be missing from the list and I cannot see FHB on there anywhere either. :?

This is my old vet, and still the one i use for the tortoises . My bunnies go to a vet closer to home, but he is awesome too.

From your list, South Beech Veterinary Surgeon in Wickford is my current (sort of) vets, but Alex Maute moved on in November (none of the other vets there were exotic vets). I haven't tried their replacement, so the jury is out on that one.

Mr Cowburn
Powis & Partners on Audnam in Stourbridge

Not on that list, but I've seen him on other exotic pet vetinary surgeon lists.

Yes we have used Mr Star at

Buckinghamshire
Mr Malcolm Paul,
Hampden Vets,Elm Farm Rd,

I use Mr Paul. He is briliant with exotics and is fantastic with my snakes.
There's is also a lady vet called Serena, (not sure of surname but can find out), who has done both ops and aftercare for bunny Patch and her abcess's. She's a superstar! I couldnt have got through the last year with Patch without her help. And, when speaking to her last week she mentioned that another young vet had joined the practice and that he is very good with his bunny knowledge. Am very lucky to have these guys at our practice.

No but my vets recommend this practise

Manchester

Ashleigh Veterinary Center
Aidan Raftery MVB CertZooMed MRCVS and Molly Varga BVetMed CertZooMed MRCVS
Avian and Exotic Animal Clinic
221 Upper Chorlton Road
Manchester
M16 0DE

We used these when we first adopted Jetty, although it was difficult to get to them in an emergency as they are on the opposite side of Manchester.
I believe Peggy Henderson Sanctuary use them.

we use John Chitty at Strathmore vetenary clinic in Andover Hampshire
I have only got experience in relation to rabbits but there always seems to be alot of exotics eg birds, reptiles etc in the waiting room and I know he is the exotics vet at the local zoo.
I have been very impressed with them so far

We use these also :)

I have used this vet in Hampshire

David Vawer
Downlands Veterinary Group

I haven't taken my rabbits to see him, they have just seen other vets at the practice along with my rats and cat! I did take a turtle to see him though and despite speaking to every vet in the area's emergency service he was the only one able to help!!! He got my turtle better but did manage to mis sex it (forgivable because it was so young, although he did seem certain :?) and mis identify the species, although I guess he was fairly close :? He is recommended by Hampshire tortoise society :D

My gorgeous Steve died under the care of one of those vets listed (it wasn't her but I didn't know it wouldn't be her doing the op)

I'd have thought so, there is such a thing as an RCVS registered specialist in **insert specialism here*** so I'd have thought exotics would be one.
