  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Linus is going for his operation tomorrow please wish him luck!! can anyone recommend how long he should stay in his cage for after an op, most of the time he roams the house so he wouldn't be used to being confined

depends what he's going in for? if its a simple procedure then he's gonna be dopey for a couple of days. My bun went in for neutering last week...a minor op...but he looked drunk when he got home and was very sleepy and craved attention for a few days. he is also a house rabbit and i left the cage open as i normally would so that he could come and go if he pleased, this still gives them the freedom. but he'll probably be too tired to want to come out.

Good luck to him!! xxx

I kept spice in after her spey for only a few days just so she couldn't move to fast/suddenly and damage her 'wound'. She was on paper instead of shavings and i swear she just sulked until i let her out lol but she was absolutely fine and prob could have come out earlier tbh :D xxx
