Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

New Kit
hi, hoping you can help - i have a very nervous frightened house bunny who has hurt his back leg (not sure how, but maybe playing rough with my other bunny). He was limping slightly over the last couple of days, but today he is hardly putting any weight on it at all. Of course I am thinking I should take him to the vet, but he is so terrified of people and has been through so much (he is a rescue bunny) that I am worried any trip will really stress him out and terrify him. Advice please!?

As it hasnt gotten better over the past few days, i really think a Vet trip is in order. He may need pain relief.

Also for now, i would restrict his space, so he is less likely to cause more injury.

:)

Sounds like he might need pain relief from a vet at least. The vet really needs to check him out. If he is bonded with another bunny, can you take him to the vets with him? Together they will support each other in times of stress.

Definitely get him to the vet. I always take my bonded pairs together, even if only one of them is poorly as this gives them a little support.
If the leg hasn't got better on its own, it will need treatment even if only anti-inflammatories and painkillers.
Have you noticed any other symptoms in bunny, such as drinking more, or weeing more?

Sounds like he has sprained his leg and needs to have restricted exercise and some pain relief such as metacam.I hope he feels better soon
