  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Sick Bunny

Hi
Grace has never been sick before until today when we went out to feed the buns and she was sitting huddled in the corner of her pen outside. She had fluffed up and her eyes were almost closed. I thought she might be cold so I took her inside and sat her near the warm radiator. She's usually really active and bouncy when I come to feed her in the morning but today she was quite the opposite. She doesn't have a runny nose or eyes.

I don't really know what It could be but she looks terribly frail and down in the dumps, can anyone help??

Thanks

Will and Grace

It sounds like she may have tummy pain which could indicate GI stasis or bloat....has she eaten anything or pooed at all?

I would suggest getting her to the vets as soon as possible, rabbits deteriorate very quickly so getting her treatment asap is very important.

take her to the vet it sounds like the start of stasis which cna be brought on by many things, she will need a pain relief such as metacam and also a gut stimulant if she is dehydrated she may also need fluids its essential you take her to vets asap x
