Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

how much food is ok after neutering?

Dudley had his op today I picked him up at 5. He's basically slept all evening all he's eaten is 2x 1 and half inch pieces of greens and a tiny piece of parsley he's also had a tiny amount of water. Is that enough or should I be worried? I asked the vet if he'd given a gut stimulant and he said they don't give it for castrations he has had metacam which should last 24hrs! I dont know if it might make a difference but hes also had a shot of ivermectin as I asked them to check a tiny dry patch for mites!!

As long as he's eating something, that should be fine. Is he pooping yet?
Squidgy ate loads of grass after his op, but he didn't poo for AGES!

Hi,
My rabbit Oscar had his op on Wednesday & that night we gave him some greens & he didn't eat or drink much - I was worried also, he had a bit of green yesterday & water then today he has eaten a bit more & is moving around the room a lot more tonight & is looking for cuddles!....He goes for his check up tomorrow. Hope everything goes ok for your rabbit xx

Thanks HS and Peggys and Oscars mum! 3am and at last a sizeable amount of parsley and basil have been munched hurrah! unfortunately no dried food yet and shockingly a piece of carrot was refused  so it's looking good now :D

give her as much treat as possible, including dry pineapple, fruits, greens in the first 24 to 48 hr to re-induce her diet. i.e. you spoil your bun for 48 hr.

Squidgy didn't want to eat his normal favourites at all after his neuter, which was a little strange but all was back to normal within 48 hours!

normal service has resumed!! He's charging around doing all the things a bunny should do BUT he seems even randier  His new moto is if it moves hump it gotta make the most of those last remaining hormones

Kirby (male) wudnt eat anything at all so i had to take him back to the vets to syringe feed him. He was neutered on Wednesday, and stayed 2 nights at the vet. Now hes back hes eaten greens and still not touched his dry food. He is much more perky now though. He even climbed onto the sofa (its quite low down) and is pooping and peeing in his usual place. He is very skinny atm but his ears are warm so he seems healthy. On wednesday his ears were freezing and he wudnt move from the one spot for hours on end.

greens seem to be the magic key tho, he ate them with his normal wide eyed enthusiasm.
