Does anyone use 2 different vets?

Does anyone use 2 different vets? Or do you think its ok to use 2?

After seeing a few threads on the price of myxi jabs and the fact that i have moved house even further away from my current vet, i have been ringing around a few a lot closer to home.

I spoke to one earlier that sounded promising, i asked about the price of myxi jabs and she said straight away you do know they need to have VHD as well etc and the price was £13.60 for myxi and £12 for VHD i am paying £22 & £18 respectively.

Whilst i have no problem affording to pay these prices me and my mum have 8 soon to be 10 bunnies between us and that extra money could go into an emergency treatment fund or something and this place was the only one that mentioned the VHD as well.

I'm not sure what to do now as i know my vet is good but pricey and far away so i thought maybe i could use both :?

I use two vets, the first has a great rabbit savvy vet there who is brilliant for more complicated stuff but they're vaccs are expensive so I go to another vets about 5 miles down the road who are cheaper

Ditto, I also use my cheaper vets for castrations.

Both vets know I use another practice and as long as I am upfront and honest about any treatment & medical history the patient may have had with the other vets they are both OK with it.

I have a vet for each type of animal I have  I also chose which to you go to according to whos on duty that day. Must say though, one i dont use often but they have an amazing hosital also on outskirts of nottingham.

I see it can only better your chances, for injections I may use a different to one I would for nuetering if the cost is lower. general sickness I use the most savvy vet :D

At one stage I was using 3 different bunny vets, which got ridiculous! I used to use a nearby one for vaccinations, a different one when they were spayed, and then I ended up changing to one further away. When they became quite ill I just moved them totally over to the one I found most knowledgeable, even for vaccinations, despite it being the furthest away.

I think it can work having more than one vet, but only when they are healthy, in my view - you expect a health check to accompany each vaccination, and that can become complicated if the vet doesn't know all about their history.

I use two, one for the buns' vaccs as they do home visits (but are farm vets so bun savvy vet not always there) and one for the cats and ferrets. :D

It helps that one practice has weekend surgeries too.

I use two vets as well. One I used for spey and neuter because he has tons of experience with it and does all the speys and neuters for the nearby shelter. He was also loads cheaper than the other vet I use. My other vet I go to for everything else because she is closer, even though she costs a little bit more.

I use 2 vets too :) One for vaccinations only, and one which is bunny savvy for everything else :) xXx

I will be doing. Our local vet only charges £15 for the vaccs but £120 for a spey so am going to my parents' vet to get it done for £62

I have all my animals registered at three different vets for different reasons.
Some of it is due to basics like vaccs being cheaper at one, another has rabbit savvy vet there, another has a Saturday and Sunday surgery and a tortoise specialist.

me too, im upfront about it to each one and the 'good' one is £12 per vaccine and the other vets is £22!!

and with 4 buns and 2 temporary buns i cant afford to pay £60 extra for vaccines!

i have two vets. one is for when i'm at home, one when i'm at uni.they fax each other notes after appointments so each know what is going on! i get vaccs done at home as it is cheaper, and both have rabbit savvy vets in their practice. result :D

I use two vets. I go to the local vet for vaccinations but take my buns to a rabbit savvy vet who is a 45 min drive away but definitely worth it.

Jack is registerd with 2 vets, 1 where got neutered as it was close to college so i could drop him off and pick him up. Jack, molly and spud are registerd with another as its just up the road i.e for vacs etc.

Yep, we use PVC for vaccinations as it is WAY cheaper than the other vet - especially now we have seven ! But when there's any sign of any of them having a problem I always go straight to my original vet. We have a great relationship and the two vets at the practiceand both know our experience with rabbits. Plus the veterinary group offer a 24 hour emergency care which gives great peace of mind. :D I don't see any problem with using 2 vets.
