Hugo's There
Wise Old Thumper
We have been to collect a rabbit today that our vet approached us about taking as the owners weren't coping.
They are lovely people but Fuzzy is a long haired bunny and they were really struggling to cope with his coat. Today was the first time I had seen him and OMG he is in such a mess. They have tried so hard with him and clearly love him to pieces and he is such a friendly bunny, but where to start on him His face is so matted he cannot see, he can't move his back legs properly and he even has matts all round his genitals
He is unable to keep himself clean underneath so they have been showering him but with so many matts he is impossible to dry so his skin looks really sore too.
Fuzzy was an outdoor bun with free range of the garden, who loved digging and sitting in the rain. All the things bunnies love to do, but which he can't do with the coat he has. He will be an indoor bunny for now until we can work out what is best for him.
It just makes me ask the question again Why do people breed bunnies like this? Just because they have "cute" fluffy coats doesn't mean there isn't still a proper rabbit inside them. It makes me so angry, Fuzzy can no longer have the life he loves with a family who love him because some idiot bred him like this Also we are his 4th home in his short 18 month life.
