Chipped Bark - Is it safe?

Hiya,

I've just put some chipped bark into the buns run (the garden mulchy type stuff) but they're picking bits up and eating it. Is it safe for them to do this??

I know people have got the same stuff in their runs, so I'm assuming its ok - but does anyone know for sure??

We use this too, and I've never noticed them eating it to be honest. I'm sure they probably have done though, and never come to any harm.

I have read that buns shouldn't have pine so you'll need to make sure they don't have pine bark chips.

I think you'd need to look at the bag and see what wood it is made from and whether it has been treated with any chemicals.

There is nothing on the bag at all to say if its been treated, nor what wood it is.. just says by products of the timber industry. :?
