Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

Hi:wave:
I need some help, Blackie and skye my two youngest boys both have blocked tear ducts. When they got their fist Flush the vet noticed they had really small tear ducts. Any way they have had countless duct flushes and still no help!

Its only one eye and was told to bond them both as they may keep each others clean!

Untill they are bonded how can i clean it as i am only using water and it takes ages to clean! And they get restless staying still for so long!

Occasionally they get bald patches and i put vaseline on the skin to stop burning! Is this right to do?

Thanks :D:wave:

have they had xrays to rule out totohe root problems? as this can casue weeping also, or if they did have tiny tear ducts they could have been torn when they were flushed if it wasnt done correctly either way for future bathing get warm water......on a cotten bud... clean the area wiping away from the eye so no salty tears are left there. then use a small piece of flanne l to dry adn fluff up the area this will need doing at elast once a day to stop the salt eroding teh fur and causing bald patches xx

My vet hasnt sugested x-rays!!!!:?:?
Will ask 2moro as they are going for a check up before xmas!

I normally clean their eyes every second day but will start doing this everyday!!
Thanks for the help, much appreciated:D:wave:

Once a day will probably make it easier as there is less built up. Try gently massaging the corner of the eye in circles, than can encourage any goop in the tear duct out.

it seems(from what i have read up) that only an xray will show if the tooth root is elongated to the point that the tear ducts are blocked adn the eyes weep . i do think that by bonding them they will help clean them selves tho! :) we have a bun who needs daily eye baths after her myxi last year her tear duct became blocked by the scar tissue sadly the only thing to do is bath it gently daily... when she was bonded(they fell out ) her freind always cleaned the eye and it only eneded looking at around 1 time a week x
