  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

ive just phoned my vets re my new additions and they will do the male at 4 months for £30.15 not bad, but they have said that they need separating now as they could already be mating is this right or not ?? i dont think they are rabbit savvy especialy giants
many thanks

I would not risk keeping them together after 12 weeks of age :) or as soon as the Buck's plums become visible.
Although Giants often mature more slowly I would not want to put it to the test.

thanks

they are 9 weeks at the mo so should be ok for a few weeks yet. i was thinking of getting them both done together what do you think.

breeder said 4/6 months by the time he drops lol can he be done before they are visible??

cheers

so if i separated them at 12 weeks and wait till he is 16 weeks ahd get him done, how long after can they go back together:?

I have had a Buck remain fertile 6 weeks post castration. He got 3 Does pregnant
Most people say that 4 weeks is long enough to wait but I always err on the side of caution now.
