Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Question about rabbit's urine...

Young Bun
My rabbit's urine has been orangy/red the last 3 days, and ive been searching this and a lot of sites said that it can be caused by certain veggies. i havent been able to find something that says what kind of veggies. does anyone know which ones cause this im kind of worried. i gave my rabbit kale, dill, parcley, cilantro and mint. could these be the cause? and if they are should i stop giving them to him?

Toffee and Ghostie get the exact same diet and Ghostie's urine is clear and Toffee's is orange, so i'm pretty useless sorry :p

beetroot is a particularly bad offender! Is your rabbit female? If so, is she spayed? Rabbit urine can be orangy, even very red and be normal, however, in an un-neutered female it can be the first signs of uterine cancer. If she falls into that catergory, you need to have her urine tested by the vet pronto to determine if the red colour is just pigmentation from food or if it is blood. Hope that helps!

My bunnies urine comes out clear but when I empty their litter tray It has turned orangey color.Their litter tray is a huge plastic box filled with news paper with hey on top.My buns are healthy,(Touch wood)
