  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Hi to everyone

I havent posted for a while but I was wondering if anyone could give me some advice and wether they have encountered this. Back in august I took over the care of an anorexic rabbit. After taking it to my vet he did a dental and Toffee started to eat again he went up to 2.1kg after dropping to 1.4, I thought great he is on the mend. Just recently I noticed he had stopped eating again so I took him back to the vet who looked at his teeth but he didnt think it could be them causing the problem. He gave him 2 injections and said to bring him back if there was no change. I returned a week later with him and the vet checked the teeth again but still didnt think it was them causing the problem. Toffee had another injection he also had some saline injected under the skin to rehydrate him and I had some oral antibiotics to take home with some recovery food to syringe feed him with. Toffee has started to eat a little carrot and a bit of kale but today I noticed he had passed a clear jelly like substance. I am off back to the vet with him tomorrow but I was wondering if anyone could tell me what this problem could be?
