  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Conti Giant - Weight? xXx

Wise Old Thumper
Took Ronnie to the vets yesterday for a generally health check (mainly because i wanted him weighed :))

The nurse weighed him and he was 5.3kg... hes 8 months old :) Is this about right?? She said hes at his maximum weight for his size :? But i thought they could get alot heavier than that??

Lola, french lop, was weighed last week before her neuter, the vet aged her at around 15 - 20 weeks, and she weighed 3.2kg... the vet did say however shes in really good condition :)

Any ideas if their weighs are about right?? xXx

Hi.
They both sound fine to me, i usually work in lbs not kg but looking at breed standards etc an adult contintental giant will easily grow in excess on 7kg, as yours has a bit of growing left then i would say he is fine, so long as he stays fit and firm and doesn't get fat and saggy then he will be fine.
The Frenchie also sounds about right to me again a lot more grwoing to do, but along the right lines.
