  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Spaying female

bridget

Alpha Buck
I am looking to buy a female today (so much searching done already - not just spur of the moment :D) - the rescue centre I am looking to buy from do not spay any of their rabbits.

I don't know what to do. Do I get her spayed or leave her be? I want to eventually bond her with Kirk and he has been neutered.

Any advice is greatly appreciated.

I would get her spayed as it will make for a better quality of life for her, hormonal aggression and pseudo-pregnancies being a real problem for entire Does.
Entire Does have a very high risk of Uterine Cancer. My Vet has seen Cancer in Does as young as 2 years of age.

I would too get her spayed :) I was in the same situation and my Lola is off to get spayed on Tuesday :) Its best to be on the safe side, hope you decide to get her spayed xXx

Get her spayed. She will be much happier and also not hump everything in site, nor dig great engineering feats in the way of tunnels and burrows in your back lawn!!!
