OMG, I'm shaking!
I was woken about 20 minutes ago by my O/H who could hear 2 of the buns thumping, he was sitting by the window with it open and speaking to the buns who are on the patio below. He was trying to calm them down so he could get back to sleep. He thought it was because it's really windy here and the tarp had blown off Joey's hutch.
He went to the loo and I hung my head out the window to speak to the buns.... then I noticed it.. a huge fox sitting in the rockery, about 6 feet from Leo's hutch! OMG, my heart was in my mouth!
I ran downstairs, straight outside and the thing just ran to the other end of the garden and sat there looking at me! I chased after it and it jumped the fence into next doors garden so I started looking for something to throw at it (not at it really, just round it to encourage it to run away). It jumped back into the side part of my garden then over the 6ft front fence and I made all sorts of horrendous noises at it until it went running down the street.
I've checked all the buns who seem fine and I've confined Skye to the hutch part of her combo for tonight - the tarp doesn't cover the run totally so I'm scared that she has seen it. She was quieter than usual so I really hope that she'll be ok. The other two buns don't have attached hutches so I've made sure that all tarps are strapped down extra tonight. I've even added hooks to the corners as well as velcro. They also have plenty of hay to snuggle in to.
It's not possible to bring them in, I would if I could but is there anything else I can do? I know about the human pee on the perimeter so O/H will be getting asked to pee in a jug at some point today!!
Help! What else can I do to deter the fox. I have a motion sensitive light out the back which we usually turn off when I go to bed. Would that deter the fox or just let it see what it was doing!!?
