  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Hello all, i know this prob gets asked all the time but i cant seem to find it on the forum.
Simon is going in Monday at 9.15 and im picking him at 14.00.....What care to i need to give him after? before the op? i know the vet will tell me most of it. I just wondered if people could clarafy....im nervous.....especially as i lost my hammy and im terrified now

Do not starve him beforehand, and just ensure you have plenty of tempting treat for when he comes home.

If he's an outdoor bunny he'll also need to stay inside for a few days :)

He is an indoor bunny. Ive heard he is suppose to eat loads before he goes in....is this correct?
And after is he suppose to stay locked in cage or can he have his usual free range?

Just give him what you normally would; as for restricting his movement I did for the first few days with Nyx but then he wanted to get back to normal, and he knew his own limits as to what he could do.
