  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

petal still not stretching

Ted an Petal

don't know if i should be getting more concerned, it's nearly 5 weeks from petal got done and she still doesn't seem to be relaxing or stretching out. she'll just sit in a huddle on the floor. she used to flop out all the time. do you think it's to do with her harmones? it cost £8 to take her to the vets but i just have a feeling that they'll shrugg their shoulders. i would take her done if i thought it was serious. any opinions are welcome.

a spay is an avasive operation so maybe shes a bit worried herself on stretching at the mo, so maybe with a bit more time, internal infections can occur, maybe just ringing the vet for advise may help so you dont have to take her in,

as long as she eating and pooing fine she should be fine, biggles took 3 months before he stetched his back feet right out after his snip, before hed just put his legs out to the side but his is on the outside im not sure on spays

yeah she's fine in herself and seems to be doing more running about. it's just so hard to gauge. she's touchy at me touching her belly. cos had a feel at her scar. it felt okay but lumpy but there was nothing oozing. will maybe give the vets a call to see. thanks areia

Awww bless, glad to hear she is bouncing around again, she is proberly still a little sore, it is a big op for bunnies.

She will be back to herself in no time :D
