Unsure visit to vet

raine

Warren Veteran
Took TJ for his myxi jab today. My vet was away and I saw the Clinical Director of the group. He listened to his heart and said did I know he had a murmur:shock: Then said not to worry that he didn't and itwas his breathing that was very noisy and his chest sounded very noisy. He also said had I seen a small tiny wart like lesion on his lip.I asked him if he could have myxi and he said no that it would be on his genitals.

Daisy is a snuffly bun and is under Bristol now for a nasty inner ear infection. I asked the vet if TJ could have pasturella and he said no as he has a dry nose. We also have had builders in and the dust was awful and I wondered if this had got onto his chest, again he said he thought not.

He suggested we give him Panacur as a lot of bunnies can have unusual symptoms that could be attributed to EC. We now are on the Panacur paste.

I have come home and now I am worried as it all sounds not credible. What do you think?

Sounds like the vet told you "not to worry" about a lot of things without explaining why he wasn't worried :? Do you think these are new things or symptoms he has always had but have never been picked up before?

Hi Louise, thanks for responding. We haven't seen the lesion before. Daniel has noticed that he makes a noise breathing when he sleeps, so I think the chest is new. . It all seems very bizarre to give something for EC. Im flapping now in case it is myxi. He is very well in himself.

How bizarre :? I don't know what to think to be honest :? Did he give him his myxi vaccine? Are you able to get a pic of the lesion on his lip? Hope everything is ok!

Yes, he gave him the myxi. Im cross at myself that I didn't think quicker and say, hold off as he is a house rabbit and its not so urgent to have the booster. Im not confident about what was said to me, so I may go on Monday see my vet. I guess I do have the option to get a referral to Bristol on Wednesday. Need to find out if there are other warty lesions that bunnies can get, besides myxi.

Syphilis? When Gus had it it looked like a little rice crispy on his lip :?

was going to say this or myxi... or if has cut himself possibly? with the breathing it could be the dust...or myxi related..or something completly different good luck with seeing your normal vet again soon....not sure where you are but if near bristol jason burgess is in quedgeley(jct 12 M5) in gloucester and is a rabbit specialist who has written many papers he could possibly help?
