Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Neutered bun indoors?

Should newly neutered rabbits always be indoors?
I'm thinking of getting Tobi Neutered (been thinking about it for a long time but I'd rather wait till I don't have work during the days:roll:) but dad has been complaining at the idea of having a rabbit inside...oddly enough since I've had them indoors before.
But would he be okay in the shed? Its heated, so I can keep it at indoor temperature just fine.

Hi, my two were spayed last friday and they are still in. I have kept them in as Fred had to go back as her wound had opened up and now has a collar on to stop her nibbling.

I asked the same question and was told it is best to keep them in for a week to make sure they have fully recovered, they won't have any fur on their belly's either.

i'm not sure if the shed would be ok? mybe wait for someone else to come along.

Well as far as heat goes I don't think it should be a problem... its sometimes warmer in there than in my bedroom since the heater is on constantly to keep the water from freezing, and the one in my room is only one while I'm there..
The shed is isolated.

ted got done last monday there, i've kept her indoors, checked her wound this morning and it's looking great so put her back outside (when i mean outside their hutch is in the shed). she was so pleased to be back out. will see how she is tonight and will maybe put a heat pad in with her.
