Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Fluid filled sac near lady bits

Any ideas...my female bunny has a fluid filled sac near to her lady bits. She seeems perfectly happy and is running about downstairs at the mo and is binkying and teasing the dog. i haven't got a clue...

Umm, how sure are you your lady bun is a girl? Double check, is there a second sack on the opposite side?

Definitely a girl...according to the vet. The sac was quite small about a month ago but has got bigger and it is a pinky colour. Bun was being treated with baytril and a steroidal cream as she had been messy while we were on holiday. We always bring her in at night and as she has a dirty bum on occasion I was using wipes. Whilst away the people looking after her didn't take her out each day

Just looked at some pics on sexing a rabbit and yes i suppose it does loo like a testicle. However erm he/she only has 1..he/she! was born in June.

I'm not experienced but mabye 1 could be undescended. How rabbit savvy is your vet? It seems to be quite common for people to have mis-sexed rabbits.

Just checked again and it is a bit too big..my husband thinks I've got munchhausens by proxy ans said she "leapt in the air and did a 360" while I was upstairs

It could be one hasn't descended. If she is a he, she's at the right age to be getting them. There are also rare cases of rabbits with both sets of organs.

Are you able to handle him/her enough to look more closely at the ladybits. If the bun was born in June, you should be able to gently push just above the 'bits' and the insides will pop out...if it's a girl there will be a slit and if it's a boy it should be obvious by now  From what you're describing it definitely sounds like a testicle though!
