  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

DO they know anyone with similarly aged kits they could be fostered too? That's the best option. Otherwise they'll need handrearing with kitten milk powder or goats milk.

i was in this situation last year, i used diluted goats milk withan added probiotic (Bio-Lapis)

feeding should be about every 3/4 hours moreoftenif the babies are thin and need extra.

imsure someone more experienced will advice much better

good luck hun

please guys this person has these kits and i dont know how much she should be giving them please help

Use a 1ml syringe, four feeds a day and feed them as much as they want per feed. They'll start refusing when they are full. At 2 weeks they'll probably be drinking 4-5ml per feed, this will increase over the next week. It usually takes a couple of days to get used to the syringe feeding so you may not get as much in them initially and you can add an extra feed in to help.

Feed carefully, very slowly to avoid them inhaling milk. You can add a pinch of probiotic powder to the milk.

They should be toileting on their own about now but rub them gently with a bit of damp cotton wool to stimulate them just incase. When they start weeing on you whilst they are feeding you no longer have to do this.

They'll naturally start munching hay so make sure this is available. They should start in the next week.

Maybe if she has no idea what to do or how to do it, she could contact a vet or rescue directly?

Vets and rescues often hand rear orphan or rejected babies, so it's the best place for them.

What area are you in? Somebody may know of somewhere suitable in your locality
