  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Post snip outdoor rabbits...

Young Bun
How soon should I put them back outside???

They are doing well, at least seem to be doing well anyway... got them in our spare bedroom for now which is just an empty room really. Unfortunately my landlady will not approve of me having them indoors but the vets told us to keep them in for "a bit".

They are both boys and had the snip yesterday... would say they're about 16 week old.

Thanks

My vet usually recommends keeping them indoors overnight after the op so they can keep warm, did the vet not give you any advice?

I would have thought two to three days inside would be plenty. boys are back to normal within 24-48 hours.

I think it is more important to keep females in, to keep an eye on them, as it is a bigger, more invasive operation, with more things that can go wrong

Annoyingly I missed any advice from the vet as my other half took them in while I was at work yesterday... And now she's away for 5 days.

So they should probs go back out tonight then??? I worry about the difference between our central heated house and their hutch that's all. And the heating will have fired up before I get home tonight...

You could always give the vets a call and ask what they advise.

I kept my 2 girlies in for 7 days and they are still in am not puttin em back out while summer now i love em trottin round bedroom, i put em in garden for a run round in afternoon.. :)

Aw... I'd love to keep em indoors all the time...

I will ask the vet when I take them for a check up tomorrow... just thought I'd see what y'all thought while I'm at work

I kept my boys in until they'd had their stitches out if that helps (only because I loved having them in the house though)
