Oh dear Misty is not well again!!!

She was bleeding quite a while ago and having blood tests didnt reveal anything, she is about 9 now aswell so there are bound to be things crop up.

She has lost a fair amount of blood today, I have called her vets and she isnt there today but will be calling me first thing to discuss the results again.

She does have a lump on her side which disapears when you massage it do you think this has anything to do with the bleeding :(

Oh sorry  Well I wasnt sure whether it was when she had a pee or poo but she just sat on me and did a pee and there was blood again.

She is not spayed btw and just a few days ago was nesting again, it wouldnt have anything to do with that would it??

What animal? Bunny?

It could be something like cystitis, but obviosuly it could be something more serious.

Have you had a close look at her girlie bits?

mindymoo

Yep I make sure I clean her ladybits although she does a good job on her own. There is no difference down there that I can see :(
Is there something that I should be keeping an eye out for??

I just meant if it was coming from the uterus it wouldn't just show in her wee, it would show all the time, possibly drops around her girlie bits. If its in her wee then that implies a bladder or kidney problem. This might also be better in the rabbit health area bit.

When my elderly doe had blood in her urine, it turned out to be cystitis.

Do you think a course of antibiotics would help

Sky-O

She should be going to the vets. Anti biotics will help if its cystitis, but that's not the only option, although that possibly is the most likely and also the easiest to fix.

Oh no doubt about it she will be at the vets first thing

Also, just to check, is it red wee, or are you seeing blood clots in the wee?

mindymoo
27-10-2008, 04:50 PM
Nope its not red wee there is actual blood in it.

She did lose weight quite rapidly last time as well but she has put that back on since...is this a side effect of cystitus

Sky-O

If she is not comfortable enough to eat then she will lose weight, however, that could mean its a kidney issue.

Her appetite hasnt changed once even when she was not right before she always ate the same amount :?

Its baffling me :(

When she had blood tests, did they test her kidneys levels?

mindymoo
27-10-2008, 04:58 PM
Yep and I was told everything seemed ok, I think the only thing they did mention was a slight raise in protein levels :? Thats why Im waiting for a call to go over the test results again. They did not say she needed anymore treatment at the time though...Im beginning to wonder if I should maybe ring another vets :?

I feel like a bad bunny mum :(

It really is but these are such things we have to come to terms with as our buns age, I just hope she is not in any pain or discomfort. :(

Been to vets Misty appears to have a swollen bladder and cystitus which she is on antibiotics for.

She was nesting last week and he said that she could lose blood round the time of nesting...is this right??? :?

weed and such. It's natural if they eat weed and the urine color change to red
