  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

smelly poo

simonsmybunny

Warren Scout
ok this may sound weird but.....most of simons poo is normal smelling but today i found some and it was slughtly soft and has a very very offensive smell. I am slowly trying new veg is this why?

Is this his normal poo you're referring to?

I would say it's probably the introduction of the vegetables, especially if he's never ever had them before, it would make a difference to his digestive system. Are they a different colour?

If the smell is really that offensive, I'd keep a close eye on him for a couple of days! x

most of his poo is fine...i find the offensive ones are done outside the cage...cheeky ******..they are just normal poo's but offensive and softer

could be the veggies. Perhaps cut down the amount your are giving him and only give him one new one a week. Also give him a probiotic.

Just try ya Bunny on one veg at a time a small amount to start of with and wait and see if ya buns poos change over 24hrs if they do stop givin ya bunny that one veg, cos if ya try too many at a time ya wont no which 1 is upsettin buns tummy
