  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Vaccinations

I know you have to vaccinate rabbits for deadly diseases, such as myxomatosis and VHD. How much does this cost??

It will vary according to vets. Some vets will also charge for an initial consultation to health check bunny too!

My vets charges £16 for one vacci and £18 for the other but can't remember which is priced what! Sorry.

I'd give your vets a call and see what they quote you. They might also sign you up for 6 weeks free insurance with pet plan after first vac, thats what mine did yesterday and I got a new bunny care pack! Was very impressed! :D

Mine are £11 for Myxi and £13 for VHD including consultation and health check.

mine is 22 pounds if you pay for both at same time but they are given 2 weeks apart as advised... and if you are getting the 6 month booster for myxi its 15 pounds :)

Mine are £17 each although the PDSA do a vaccination month in march when you can get your booster & a check up for free.

The VHD was £9.25 and the myxi was £8.44 but this will vary from vet to vet.
I didnt get charged consultation fees either but that may have been a mistake on their part, a bargain for me!!xx
