Do her a 'pack up' if it puts your mind at rest and makes you feel like you're doing something for her! Who cares if the vets think you're mad, I think it's lovely and I'd do the same; in fact I will do the same for Josie when she has to be done!

Lots of vibes for the cute little Pebble! xx

Awww bless you. Pebble will be fine, though I know how worrying it is. When I had Bella spayed last year I worried all day, and carried on worrying for a few days until she was completely back to normal (and I've been through spays and neuters quite a few times but I always worry).

Maybe you could ring the vets before you go to ask about packing a bag for Pebble? Some vets expect you to take stuff in, others (like mine) provide hay and pellets.

Will think of you and Pebble tomorrow. She'll probably be quite quiet for a few days, and you might want to ask the vet if you can bring some pain relief home when you fetch her - mine didn't, and I had to take her back the next day because she was in pain and needed a top-up. Once she'd had the top-up she was fine.

Good luck Pebble!

My vet asked me to take some of Frank's normal food for when he came round, so I sent pellets, a salad of his favourite veg and herbs and a big handful of hay, all in sandwhich bags with his name written on.

They didn't think I was nuts... well, no more nuts than they already know I am.

Sending vibes for Pebble for tomorrow.

I was a nervous wreck last Wednesday when Esme was having hers done. I couldn't eat, I was useless at work (worse than useless actually because I just distracted everyone else all the time )

My usual vet asks for a 'picnic' to be taken in for a bunny that is having a GA but this was a different vet and they gave me a menu to tick her favourites off, which was lovely. .. I had taken her some food because I didn't know what to expect! I also took her pet bed in because she was having an over-night stay, I don't think they thought I was mad, or at least they didn't show it. She was definitely given the bed though because she had weed in it :lol:

Hope everything goes well.

dont worry mai everyone who has a girl bunny on ere has went through the same as you hun
I took the day off work and ended up paceing about all day waiting for the vets to ring of news of my baby. I packed her, her fav blanky, her own water bottle and her own bowl and food - so she felt at home when she came round, but my vets had requested I bring her Pipers own food anyway.
Im sure itlll go well! xx

Awww, you're bound to be anxious, but I'm sure she'll be absolutely fine.
I always send mine in with a pack up - just some pellets and their favourite treats, dandelion leaves and herbs etc. I don't care what the vet thinks!!
She's coming inside into her new cage isn't she? Lucky girl!

Mai, when our rabbit was speyed she did not eat pellets for 10 days or so and only "picked" at veg after 24 hours of being home. I would get Pebble some herbs and veg to tempt her with when she does comes home. Also make sure the vet has dosed her up with painkiller before she leaves.

So try not to worry if she seems "out of it" when you get her, Lola didn't move much at all for the first couple of days. Just let her relax and do daily checks on her stitches. I'm sure your vet will tell you all this anyway :D

Sending get well (((((vibes)))))

I hope they have doesed her up on painkillers, cause i dropped her off at the branch of the vets closest to me, in magor, and they took her to chepstow as thats the branch where they do surgery. (about 15mins drive)

im just wondering would have painkillers at the branch in magor? cause will she need any for tomorow? or would they give them to me to take home? x

The vet said she has eaten some grapes and dandylion leave things. She hasnt eaten any pellets. I let her out of her carrier into her cage and she wobbled to her litter tray and sat in it. She hasnt poo'd yet, or had a drnk, but we have only been home 25 mins. She has eaten two strands of hay.

She is now sat in her tray looking very sorry for herself. lol. Bless her, she hasnt looked me in the eye yet

Can you get a selection of herbs, kale, spinach from the supermarket to try to tempt her, even stuff she may not normally eat. I found that one of mine ate Thyme when she was recovering from an illness and she would not normally have liked it as it is strong smelling.

Can you pick some grass/dandelions from your neighbours garden?

After Esme was spayed last week she stayed over at the vets the first night but they said she hadn't eaten very much (nibbled dandelions and hay) Before they handed her back they syringe fed her 'just to get her started' so this is about they same timescale as Pebble's at now, so don't be too worried that she hasn't eaten much so far, as long as she does some time soon.

Don't worry too much about poo in the next 24 hours either - not much has gone in so there ain't much to come out either!

She needs painkiller, ASAP, to stop her going into shock. It disgusts me when vets don't give painkillers.

Have you tried waving her favourite foods in front of her face? She did eat some stuff yesterday didn't she?

When you're describing is pretty common after a spay, so please don't stress too much because she is just struggling (and moreso because she will be in a lot of pain right now).

Mazda
28-10-2008, 10:08 AM
She ate grapes yesterday and a single pellet.

Sky-O
28-10-2008, 10:10 AM
Have you tried giving her anymore grapes? Pellets will probably be the last thing she gets interested in, so treat foods will normally come first. Also try giving her a fresh handful of hay. It might be worth giving her a rice sock too.

*lily*
28-10-2008, 10:15 AM
Definately need some painkiller from the vet asap.

Bunny Buddy
28-10-2008, 10:15 AM
The reason Esme's vet gave for keeping her over night was so that she could give her a painkiller and gut stimulant the following day. It could make all the difference.

I hope you manage to get her eating more soon.

Mazda
28-10-2008, 10:21 AM

If you take her back to the vets today, make sure you get something like Metacam for the next 4-5 days as well. Don't take no for an answer because it's a massive op and very harsh if she is made to suffer the pain just because your vets are not great.

Mazda
