Esme's going for her spay this morning ...Home and doing okay

I'm taking my little babe Esme for her spay today and I feel really sick. I need to eat before I go as it's a 40 mile round trip for me... I then have to go straight to work, where I'll be all day.

I know Esme will be staying over night and it's going to be really hard tonight without her (nothing worse than an empty cage) ... but she is being cared for by the best tonight so I just have to focus on that.

It's her second attempt as she stopped breathing last time and the anaesthetic had to be reversed quickly (thanks to the skill of the vet she returned safely). She's having a different anaesthetic this time and specialist rabbit savvy vet, Frances Harcourt-Brown will be performing the operation.

I'm going now to spend as much time with Esme as I can before we set off.

Handing her over is going to be so hard

Will be thinking of you both today; Esme is in good hands and I really hope it all goes well. :)

Frances Harcourt Brown is one of the top rabbit specialists in the UK so she'll be in the best possible care-sending <<good vibes>>-Sue:wave:

The spay went well, she's come round from the anaesthetic and has nibbled some dandelions!

What a relief.

Phew.

 Thanks for all the good wishes

Thank you! I think I was pretty useless at work today... more so than normal :oops:

It turns out the over night stay is standard practice so is included in the fee which to my mind the £75 including first 24 hour nursing is an astounding price. ... not to mention reassurance because it's so easy to start panicking and thinking ... should she be ?? by now?.... is ?? normal.

I got a menu card to tick as well for what her favourite foods were. I was really impressed with that. I worked myself up badly because I didn't cuddle her immediately before I left her so was crying when I got in the car  I've only just started wearing glasses for driving so crying when driving was not a good idea

I was a bit worried about her after she came home as she hasn't been eating much but I've just been to see her and she's eaten quite a bit of spring green :D:D and looked pretty engaged with what was going on around her:D. She's not pooped since she's been home but she did at the vets... she hadn't eaten a great deal there so nothing to worry about just yet.... I'm really hating keeping her on one level though, when she got home at first she kept looking as if she wanted to go on the top shelf (blocked off) so I'll be really happy when I can give her the run of the place again.
