  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Minimum weight for Panacur

Its 1 graduation per 2.5kg of bunny, and the smallest you could feasibly do is 1/2 a graduation (so 1.25kg of bunny)

It was trialled on just weaning baby bunnies (which was how it was found to be a wormer.. it was trialled purely for E.C) so I'd guess not.

Hmmm, Flopsie is a few grams short of 1kg and is about 12 weeks.

Is it worth leaving it a while for him to grow anymore?

Oo I have no idea? Maybe give your vet a ring in the morning and ask them? I'd hate to tell you wrongly one way or the other

Well the liquid for puppies - the 2.5% one is 0.8ml per kg so i would say 1kg minimum. Best to ask your vet really x

Thanks everyone :)

Will ring vet in the morning and see if she has any reccomendations.

Or I could jus feed him till he turns into a fattie and save having to do horrible fractions!

... of course i'm joking

My lily is 1.5kg and the vet said just give her the full graduation. Panacur is safe and it won't have any bad effects.

panacur is safe, 1 grad should be fine for a bunny just under a 1g. There is no minimum weight given on the paste tube I don't think and as long as she isn't very young or very ill then it should be fine.
