digging a tunnel (and then filling it in?)

New Kit
Hi everyone, i wondered if anyone knew why a Rabbit does this.

Billy has just dug a long tunnel under the dirt, she spent three hours on it and then filled it back in. She pushed all the dirt back into the hole and packed it down tightly. Why would she do this, does anyone elses bunny do this?

i had a bunny do that, but she had had her babies in it, then at nite she wud dig it open, feed them then close it again, every night she did this till it was time to let them out... are you sure she wasnt pregnant?

Yep, like sticky_bun says this is natural mum behaviour. They cover over the entrance when the leave to protect against predators.

If there is any chance she could be pregnant then make sure you don't take away her access to the tunnel.

If she's not and unspayed it's probably a phantom pregnancy.
