  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

stitch hanging out

well it's over two weeks from petal was spayed and shes had her checkup done. but last night she'd managed to pull out one of the internal stitches so husband cut it off. do you think this is anything to worry about? her wound is nearly healed over like apart from where the stitch poked through.

I'm no expert but it may be worth ringing your vet to just ask whether she needs to be seen. At least it will put your mind at rest.

That can be trouble. Just that little left, I have seen it in such a way that it can expand and the wound get bigger. The way I fixed it is simple. You put a big 4 x 3 non-sterile pad on the wound. You then put NON-stick painter type Green tape in a cross shape. Because the tape is non stick, you can easily pull it out w/o damaging the skin. Do that for a few days until the wound is 100% healed. I done the above on 1 of my bridge bun Goofball from her stitches due to post surgery. It works very nicely
