Trimming tummies!!!!

Hello
I'm not sure if this is in the right section, so apologies if it's not.:oops:

Eric and Ernie are definately getting their winter coats now, but they are sooooo fluffy under their tummies and bottoms.

Since they don't really like beng touched there, I would like to be able to trim/shave them as quickly as possible.

What does everyone else do to keep the hair short?

i wouldnt trim them during winter as they will get cold .

Thank You

I just wondered because I need to check for any dirt or poos that might get caught in there?

They are good at cleaning, but they are sooooo thick with fluff!!
:lol::lol::lol::lol:

Flopsie is getting quite matted on his tum. I had to snip off a particularly nasty knot last night. I just keep checking to make sure he isn't dirty :)

well when you do a bumn check jsut check for any nasty matts.. if you do find one you could snip it off or try and gently pull it out usuing warm water if poo i s sticky adn stuck to the fur then use corn flour. x

Not sure if this works with all kinds of bun (you knowledgeable folk will know?) but Daisy's breeder showed me how to 'sheer' her (she's an angora so admittedly it's a breed that's used to being primped and handled)... And to do the underside, the breeder sat down with her knees very level (90 deg to body) then gently turned bunny over, with bunnies feet braced against handler's stomach (so rabbit feels atble and won;t panic). If they're level they go into a sort of 'trance' - and then will let you groom them underneath. I can;t do this on my own - so hubby has to hold bun whilst I do the grooming - but it works just fine!

That said, my bun was used to this - so maybe it's easier with some than others. But she'd not totally happy about being handled, even so - she gets bored after a while. But I comb her every day and if there was a matt (there never is as she has a really good matt free coat) it would only take a second just to snip that out.:D Someone on YouTube probably demonstrates this? Best of luck with keeping matt free buns and love to know how you get on!
