Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Central heating

My single bunnies Libby and Fiver regularly come into the house for a run and extra cuddles . Tonight, when I went to put Fiver back in his hutch, I noticed the temperature difference due to the heating. Will it be detrimental to their health to go from outside to inside to outside during the next few months? Libby is approximately 6, Fiver is 1, and both are in great health. Thanks

Hi there. I don't personally do it, I've heard that coping with significant temperature difference can be difficult for bunnies. Not sure what others will say though!

So I shouldn't be bringing my litlluns into the house on a night afterwork??? This is the only time we get to spend with them, as my other half put it last night, I don't want them falling out with us because we don't bring them in to play anymore now we've given them their run.

The problem is, when they have to go back to the outside, the colder temp. is hard for them to get used to.

They have no problem coming in from a colder temp. outside.

The sudden change in temp is bad for buns. Is there anyway you could bring the indoors for the Winter months then put them back out in Spring. Thats what we used to do when I was a child, though all my buns are now indoors all the time. Just think of all thsoe wondrful bonding moments you could share. :D

Aye that makes sense, but I Don't have room to bring their house indoors and my rubbish Landlady won't allow them to live in the house :(
