  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Izzy ate duck pellets...

William

Wise Old Thumper
My ducks have been refusing to eat outside when they go out for playtime so I had to feed them in my room last night and they spilled some of their duck pellets on the floor. So while I was waiting for them to eat them I left my room for a few minutes and when I came back Izzy (my rabbit) was sitting there munching on the duck pellets.. Are duck pellets dangerous to them?

I would check and see if they contain coccidiostats, that might be dangerous to rabbits, I know chicken feed containing them is dangerous to horses.

Alright I'll have to check the ingredients when my parents buy more later (we ran out today and don't have the bag).

This reminded me- Is rabbit pellets dangerous to ducks? I heard they have antibotics or something in them that's dangerous to ducks. Same for chicken feed.

Anti-coccidiostats are an antibiotic, I feed my ducks chicken pellets, but they don't contain any of these, and most rabbits food don't contain any either.

My gready buns always eat the duck pellets and have come to no harm.I feed my ducks allen and paige layers pellets
