  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

I have some Baytril and Metoclopramide to give to Crunch tonight after her belly had some issues this morning.

Should I be giving these together or leave a gap between them?

I would phone the vet to ask, but Fredit carved a big scratch on his face when I asked him to check his teeth while were there . I don't think he'll want to hear from me quite so soon.

im sure he wont mind hearing from you thats part of the job!! im sure hundreds of rabbits have bitten and scratched him over the years.. snowy did a flying leap once onto the vets head and stayed there while i prized her off!!(and she looked so innocent too)

iwould double cehck with vet..if you are scared to ring your vet..ring another practise adn say im sorry to contact you but my vets is engaged at moment and really want this sorted quickly....
or pm jacks jane she wil know!! x

Yes, I agree....the two things that you should NOT give together are metaclopromide and ranitadine as they sort of do opposite things so have to be given at least two hours apart. ;)

Yes, i meant the metaclopramide

No probs, I thought perhaps they were the same thing :).

Ta for the advice all, she's all full of Baytril and Metaclopramide and looks a lot more at ease tonight as is eating and hopping around well. Will be a little nervous opening the shed tomorrow though....
