Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

xeno kills internal and external parasites. We prescribed it to a guy who had a hamster with fleas, so i thought it does kill them. Does it not say on the box or the leaflet that comes in the box? I may be wrong though, can you check on the internet?

hi nic!!
just realised its my dear old(er) (lol!) cousin!!!
I only realised cos you signed off with harvey's name too!!!! Hope your ok? Are you around tomorrow cos ill give you a call if so, im off work.

lots of love to all of you x

Hi cous xxx :D..yes..tis moi

Well the leaflet is very ambiguous really. It says kills parasites that cause infestation inside the body as well as those living outside the body. The drug in Xeno 450 is ivermectin which is used to kill mites, roundworms, and lice. However it doesn't mention fleas.

When I looked ivermectin up on tinternet it says may not be effective in the treatment of fleas so I phoned a couple of practices up. One practice says it can be used for fleas, t'other practice said no it isn't effective.

From what I've read on the internet it seems that ivermectin is used mostly to treat mites, roundworms and lice but not fleas.

As you know my little Harvey is very sensitive to drugs so the less harmful the chemicals the better.

I won't use xenex ultra as both Harvey and Primrose reacted badly to it when they had it once. Also there are many other people on here whose rabbits have had bad reactions to it...one rabbit even died.

It's looking like maybe advantage is the only other alternative???? Thanks Purplebumble !!! x x x

Thanks for helping cous!!! Love to you and the buns x x x
