Rhia..Gaaaar

I'm living a bunny-nightmare I'm really struggling with Rhia. She was fine without Daniel, it really didn't seem to affect her as much as I thought it would. I think because she knew just how poorly he was, before we did. Basically, for the last few days she has been totally manic. She seems really anxious, or upset or something... We kept thinking she was going into stasis or something and every day we've been prepared for some poorlyness, but Im beginning to wonder if its more the behavioural side of things. Though Mum is worrying that its masking poorlyness, if that makes sense. I cant pinpoint any specific symptom, but I got home today and went straight out to see her and let her out...My god, she was hysterical. She was acting scared stiff of me catching her (Rhia is NOT like this!) and making the most horriffic noises. Then tonight, she came running up to see me just now and we were having strokes, when she suddenly just flew round as if she was going to bite, but didnt. Just grunting and growling. Her breathing has been quite a bit more laboured since she went to the specialist vets the other day for her check up on her bronchials/lungs. I really don't know, but i'm worried

Maybe she is missing Daniel just showing it in strange ways? I guess it could make her more highly strung if she was used to having him there

Shes been apart from him for probably about a month though, and shown no signs of this til a few days ago. I think it was about the day she went down the vets, its a long way for her as she travels awful but if anything she is usually poorly afterwards, rather than this..

Hmmm I guess if they have been apart that is unlikely. Maybe she is picking up on how upset you have been and that is unsettling her??

Aw it must be so awful not knowing what is wrong..if only they could tell us

I hope it is just behavioural. Is there anything that's making you smell odd that could be freaking her out? Have you checked for signs of rats/other animals in the garden? Hope she'll be ok. x

Thanks again both (eta and Dee!) of you. I dont often worry about them like this, unless there is proof that something is desperately wrong. I probably havent described the first post too well, but I'll try & get a video of her tomorrow...shes just hysterical, and so out of character. I dont know about her being spooked, she just usually stamps her feet and does big scared eyes for half an hour if she sees a cat or this big bird of prey that comes at night. Its just really odd, and upsetting too as she is quite obviously very distressed

this sounds like Lilli-Mai :? it could be the fact shes missing Daniel if you think shes had 2 friends taking away from her, Lilli-Mai had so many children taken away from her.... and both their behaiours sound the same so i think it could be possible and the answer to my problem with Lilli!

From the behaviour you have described she sounds like she is doing what Scarlett does when the neighbours use their lawnmower. She will be fine if im doing our lawn and she is watching, I think it freaks her out when the noise comes from behind the hutch and she cant see what it is My neighbours comes and tells me now so I can bring her in before she starts :lol:

Poor you... bunnies are so hard, aren't they? I can't help but think it isn't missing Daniel specifically, although if she was spooked by something previously, having another bunny there might have prevented her from going so mad.

I'm inclined to think along the lines of your mum, I think.

Jasmine keeps going for me after her losing Josh, it is like she blames me. Rhia as be through a lot with her partners and I would think it is affecting her more this time (hopefully).

its quite a far fetched idea, but could it be bcus she cant smell him anymore? if he was living in your room you would have his scent on you especially as he was so cuddly, so maybe now that she cant smell him anymore its upset her?

Any of the theories could be right. She seems calmer today, but quiet. I really dont know whats the matter with her, thought about taking her to the normal vets but I just dont know how much it'd achieve as she doesnt have symptoms of anything of such, and has had every test under the sun recently; literally everything, bloods, X-rays, Scans...then theres the travelling, which will probably make her worse. Doesnt help that Im having to inject her three times daily which really upsets her, so in a way its like even the person she loves and trusts the most is hurting her..Aaaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrgggggggghhhhhh!!

Have you tried giving her a comfort toy, something she can snuggle up to and feel safe with. She's probably feeling very insecure and confused at the moment; poor little girl.

Maybe that's it then, if she doesn't like the injections she may be taking it out on you. Are they at a set time each day?
