Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

Young Bun
Hi everyone

I am quite new to the rabbit world. I got Dorian about 4months ago and he is now six months old, and he is a mini-lop. (to be fair I wish I had joined as soon as I had got him! I love RU!)

Anyway, I have been searching and searching old posts about sticky and wet bums. I always check him over every day and the last coupld of weeks, hes been really wet round his bum, and i thought he may have a problem. I've been scaring myself with urinary infections, but the only symtom he had was a wet bum. Hes been peeing in his litter tray as usual. he was drinking a bit more than usual but this has now normal again. I think his wet bum must be the cause of him spraying!

Hes just done a massive puddle in front of me and then his bum was soaked! I cant believe such a small rabbit can create so much liquid. I know its not urine either as its completely clear!

Could this be the casue of his wet bum? Could i have been worrying for nothing?!

Thank goodness hes due at the vets Monday to be neutured!

Hi Claire, I think that the neutering should help sort out the issue, it's normal for a non neutered bun to do it (especially a male as he reaches puberty). By the way, it is urine, spraying is basically marking the territory. If in doubt, please get it checked by the vets before you get him neutered :)
