Otoscopes and Stethoscopes

Hugo's There

Wise Old Thumper
As my birthday is coming up and Christmas is on the horizon I'm looking for a good Otoscope and Stethoscope. The one's I have at present are just cheepys off ebay and I need something a little bit better. Obviously can't afford top of the range but can anyone recommend good but reasonably priced ones?

Thank you :)

I'd go for the best quality you can afford - I have a 2 x paediatric Littmanns stethoscopes for small mammals and find it really difficult to use anything of lower quality if someone has borrowed mine and I have to use the practice ones, everything is so much less clear. Although make sure you know what you should hear and what abnormal sounds are possible otherwise no stethoscope is of any use!
Otoscopes are less specialised, although the better known brands will last longer and be more reliable. Again you need to know what normal and abnormal look like and don't rely entirely on a conscious auriscopic view to rule out dental disease, even the most skilled operator with the best equipment can't view all crown surfaces
