Clyde is not eating

Ian'n'Chris

Young Bun
Help, our bunny Clyde does not seem to be happy today. He is an indoor rabbit and is normally quite lively, in as such as he often runs around the house and comes to say hello. Today he has just laid in his favourite place, has not eaten all day, despite having his favourite food being around (carrot, broccolli, fresh hay and his usual pellet food). He is not even tempted by his one a day treat (dried pineapple), which he usually comes running and jumps onto the settee to get when we shake the container. We have moved him from uner the table and he seems content to just sit on the floor near his food, but seems very quiet. He also seems to feel more comfortable backed against the wall, which doesnt normally bother him, as he will often simply 'slob out' in the middle of the floor. He had his myxi jab on friday but has been fine since then. As I am typing he has just started to drink water from a bowl, and seems very thirsty, despite his water bottle still having plenty of water in it (his usual source of water). He is preening himself, and does not seem to have any obvioius signs of illness like runny eyes or strange poos anywhere. Can anyone help, or are we being paranoid and he may simply be having an off day ?

Yes he has been for a poo and they are normal. He has also had a wee and there is no abnormal smell to it. He just doesnt look happy, and is not laid in his normal relaxed way

No tummy doesnt feel bloated. He had a health check on friday by the vet and he was fine then, although he is a little overweight. As I am typing Chris my girlfriend is cleaning out his cage, and he has just decided to have a mad dash around the living room, sniffing a few things along the way, then straight back to where his food is, although his only interest there seems to be in the water bowl. He has just jumped in his cage, had a sniff around and then wandered around again. He seems to have livened up a bit but showing no sign of interest in broccoli is so strange for him, and as for the dried pineapple, I have never seen him turn his nose up at that in the year we have had him. He just seems incredibly thirsty

Woohoo, he has just eaten a small piece of broccolli, not much but at least he has shown some interest in it. He is behaving very similarly to the the posters who believe their buns have gas. Is that fact that he is eating, a good sign ?

Yes eating is a very good sign:),but try him with something other than brocoili as it can actually cause gas

At present he is surrounded by fresh hay, a carrot and his usual food, he really doesnt seem interested in any of them. He has eaten one piece of pineapple (which is all we allow him each day anyway). He definately seems a little livelier now and is moving around more and grooming himself, it is just when he lays down, he just does not look himself. I cant explain it and I know it probably sounds daft, but he just does not look happy. Can rabbits simply have off days like we do ?? He has also just laid down more like he usually does with his back paws sprawled out behind him and front paws in front, which looks a little better.
