Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Cut lip

Wilbur

Mama Doe
Hi,

One of my rabbits has just cut his bottom lip. He did it I think when they both tried to get through the cat flap at the same time. Something had spooked them in the garden, I don't know what though as I hadn't seen anything.

It is just a small cut on his bottom lip. Should I just leave it or put something on it?

It looks clean and he has eaten a raisin so can't be too sore!

Thank you!

One of my buns got a little cut on his lip from another bun giving him a nip. It bled a little but then stopped by itself. My vet advised me just to keep an eye on it but thought it'd be fine and it was. So as long as he's eating and nothing untoward develops i reckon he'll be ok x
