  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

am i right in remembering that there are two methods of anaesthetising a rabbit and that one is prefereable over the other, or have i just fabricated that in my mind?

mmm don't know i just thought they make the asleep and no more, just sort of keep them in and out. don't know though.

ahh thankyou - I think it was the variation of gassing or injecting that I was thinking of, as posted by Tinky....

hope Esme does ok  I am always terrified of my bun having anaesthetic when she has her teeth done but thus far she has always been her lively self afterwards!

hope Esme does ok

:(:(:( My vet has advised me that he isn't particularly happy with the alternative anaesthetic he would have to use (can't remember name but not given in previous thread) It's not possible to reverse the anaesthetic quickly so if she had a bad reaction to it ... not as easy to get her back :( His straight answer was "If she was mine, I wouldn't have it done". So unless I find an alternative that I'm happy with then she's not going to be spayed :cry:
