Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

seems to have lost some weight

tickles

Ozzy seems to have lost a little weight ( he is only a small bun lion cross) he is eatting drinking normally pooing again perfectly fine.
Teeth are all looking good so i cant think of anything else.So i thought i would ask for advice ?

how old is Ozzy? have both his front and back teeth been checked? amy food changes or routine ie stress?
some internal probs can cause weight loss but thats generally in older buns. How much weight are we talking bout I would start weighing him daily and keeping note.

tries to think of ozzys age (he was rescue bun).
no changes in routine
I will get him booked in for teeth and weight check asap at vets.
It isnt lots of weight he is active and alert and eatting well x

That's good just keep a very close eye on him.
I'm really paranoid bout my bunnies, I hope nothing is wrong with him and your just being paranoid too! xxx

Hi,
You should weigh your bunny weekly to keep a chk on weight, as he's not well atm, daily would be a good idea. Even if he appears to be eating ok and normal amounts, if there is a problem with the teeth, he may not be actually chewing the food very effectively which would men he is unable to digest the food properly, leading to weight loss. Get his teeth checked but remember that 70% of dental leisons go un-noticed when the vet uses an auroscope (the instrument with the long metal cone on) to look at a conscious bunny mouth. The only way to 100% sure is to do in under anaesthetic. Weight will go up and down in bunnies, by weighing weekly you can ensure that weight goes up as well as down. One of mine has lost weight for the 3rd week in a row, spoke to the bunny specialist and he's booked in for a dental. Other bunny lost weight 3 weeks in a row but on the forth week she has put weight on again.
See a rabbit savvy vet if your not happy - it makes the world of difference!
