Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

how long should it take for shaved fur to grow back?

Half of William's face (from below his eye to his chin) was shaved for his abscess surgury last Tuesday. How long does it take to grow back long enough to match the rest of him? He's a 5month old French Lop, so not too long of fur.

It probably wont do much until the next moult, Lucifer had a pretty bare tummy from the October she was spayed till spring when she moulted her summer coat in.

Thanks! :( It sounds like he'll have to deal with a bare face for a little while longer than he'd like! I posted a couple photos of his "post-op" haircut and it's not very pretty!! Oh well, it does make it easier to see how it's healing.

One of my girlies was spayed a while ago now and we still have a bald tummy.

Lopsy was done agess ago (french lop) and she still has a bald tummy!!

took rosie 6 months to even start growing any back and now at a about 8 months she is in full fluff. My foster babies grew back in a week :D:D

After Arthurs operation the only hair that grew back was along the scar, the rest grew when he started moulting. I've heard this is quite normal.
