We are using at the minute burgess guinea (orange bag) and science selctive for the rabbits.I was wondering if it is safe to mix a cheaper food in to bulk it out a bit to make it last longer.
The food i was thinking of was wagg for both animals.

Well one problem is your mixing guinea pig food in, which is just designed for guineas and not rabbit feeding, trying bulking the dinner up with loads of hay and grass. another cheap way of feeding is to go down to you local store and get loads of cheap out of date vegs for only 10p.

I feed mine on SS and Allen and Page mixed together and they are fine.
If you are looking for cheaper food Allen and Page rabbit pellets are very good quality and much cheaper than SS. I pay £8 for a 20kg sack where and SS is £15 for 10kg :D
A&P actually works out cheaper than most mixes and is much better for the buns :D

It is a small pellet food, very high in fibre. There was a thread the other day with a number to phone for stockists...
Order online here:

Or I would have a look at allen and pages website, you can search suppliers:
http://www.allenandpage.com/searchdb2.asp best [phone to check they stock the rabbit pellets
I would try and find somewhere you can buy 1/2 bag or something as it has quite a short shelf life.
My local farm shop sells small bags for £1 :D

I do this too and also add some Oxbow Bunny Basics for some of mine. They eat the lot, although, they always eat the Science first.
I only feed an eggcup full each per day! So by providing a high hay diet, I can feed my 16 fairly cheaply whist giving qood quality and a balance.
