Poorley bunny???

hi, i am currently looking after my mums bunnys while she is holiday. which has been fine up untill now. I went in this morning to give them there wholemeal toast and fudge just sat there and wouldnt eat it, which is unusual as him and his partner topsy usually get very excited. so i hour later i went in and tried him with some spring greens and got the same response. hes just sitting/lying in his cage and doesnt seem interseted in anything. I am so worried my mum loves her bunnies so much and i would be devestated if anything happened to them while they were in my care. any advice anyone could give me would be great.

thanks in advance

Hiya
It sounds as though your bunny has a bit of tummy ache. Is he lying pressing his belly to the floor or grinding his teeth at all?

Buns need to keep their digestive systems going and if they stop eating for whatever reason, then it can be difficult to get them going again.

Try to temp him to eat with anything you know he likes. Try to encourage him to drink some water - do you have a syringe you could give him some in? Try rubbing his tummy and listening for gurgles and rumbles and finally try to get him to move about as the motion will help to dislodge any wind he might have.

If none of this works, in the next couple of hours then you really need to get him to a vet who can administer pain relief, an appetite stimulant and fluids.

Please come back and let us know how you get on.

I agree with Mad Bunster, it sounds like a tummy ache.

If he's not eating now and you've tried everything, I'd go to the vets.

hi thanks for you replys, i tried offering him some of his fav foods and rubbing his tummy etc etc but he still didnt respond. luckily my mum flew in at 6 this morning so i managed to get hold of her and she has took him to the vets. they seem to think its his teeth so are keeping him in overnight. will let u know how it goes. fingers crossed he will b ok.
