Jess and Jay my Rescue Bunnies

theadiega

New Kit
Hello, a few months ago i looked on the Rabbit Rehome and saw two bunnies needing homes who had waited 26 Months for a home.

My heart sank and i enquired about them right away.

I got a fast respomse and was told the reason they were not homed was because they were not cuddly rabbits and that Jay had teeth problems, but i didn't care as i wanted to get them a home.

Now i am a little sad, i used to be a big Buffy fan and had lots of merch, i really wanted to home these two but needed to save up for a decent hutch/run and a spare spacious run so i sold everything. Yay.

Anyway, after liasing with Tracy from the Rescue Centre i decided to have them. My partner went to get them as i couldn't

When they came home they went straight into the Run whilst i got the HUtch bedding ready and fresh.

THey loved it! THey munched on the grass and started sunbathing and Jay was running around.

They then had to go to bed. I picked them up and Jay is SOOOO SOft and both so cute.

Jay loved the house right away and was running up and down the ramp. Jess didn't really get it.

The next day i decided to put her downstairs to see if she could maybe figure out to go up the ramp rather than down. As soon as i put her downstairs she was running around the run for ages and jumping "Binky" i belive the term is called.

So now they both run up and down all the time.

Jay THumps a lot , but doesnt keep anyone awake but me, only because i worry. They are starting to let me stroke them more, Jess especially. Though they both grunt a lot.

Jess likes it when i open the roof so she can have a nose outside, and thats when i stroke her, also when i give her food.

Anyway, here are piccies.

Its always so nice to read a story like this, these bunnies have there forever home and will have many joyful years with caring people! :D

its such horrid weather at the moment so i havent been outside much myself :9 but as we speak they are munching on THE biggest Carrot i have EVER seen.

I saw them Months ago and thought they werelovely,I made a post on here about them, but decided that they were too far away and tyhe journey could stress them.I amso pleased that they have a good home:love::love::love::love::love::love::love: your house looks beautiful too

THank you :) i just stroked Jess again, shes Definately getting tamer, i think she knows her mum now. I just went outside with a bag with their food in it and her ears propped up and she ran to the bars to greet me, well ....greet the food.

My first rabbit I got from a friend who had got bored of her and was totally wild and wouldnt even be touched by a human, after a few months she was a sweetheart who loved fuss and cuddles...not saying this will happen again as these rabbit have already been socialised but I wouldnt be surprised if they became more "cuddly". :)

What gorgeous bunnies! Congratulations

They sound like they're enjoying themselves

Only one word of caution - I would recommend putting some sliding bolts or padlocks on the hutch doors, my last bun was taken out of her hutch as a cat fiddled with the swivels and managed to get a door open.. do this especially if you get cats coming in and out of your garden.

Thought I'd just let you know as I don't want it to happen to you :)

THanks for advice. At night the big run goes over the Run and as its slanted it goes up against the hutch doors and is secure so no one can get in or out. Unless its jeff capes.

Hiya, your buns look lovely. I am sure that they will reward you greatly for giving them a home.

I would have to agree with the above. No matter what other fixings are on the hutch, I always put proper bolts on all of the doors. I have heard of far too many storys bunnies either escaping or being let out in error, or by a preditor because there were only turn buttons on the doors. As Annadelie said, it would be awful if it happened to you, especially as these lovely bunsters have been waiting so long for a home.:D

Oh and sorry about your Bunny, was it ok?

That's ok hon :)

No, unfortunately that was the end of her (Mitsy) I've had to reinforce my hutch (which I did to the extreme) and bought my secondary hutch for Hiro after that.

Even though her hutch was covered securely by tarpaulin the cat still managed to get through, so it still shocks me.

We do get alot of cats in our garden though.

Just wanted to check :)

Thank you for your concern :) we will get bolts defo, this extra run seems to secure ot now as takes two of us to move it. We do have a gentleman caller in a caT but he cant get in anywhere and just stares anyway. But we will get bolts.

I'm pretty sure it will be okay although it's better to be cautious (I would have never thought it would have happened - a cat taking my dwarf lop out of her hutch) but it did. I think it was this paticular "new" owners cat.

I would recommend getting some hasps and mini clips/padlocks from homebase, and would measure the amount of wood you have to work with to fit the fittings in place.

I'm glad you're not offended.. your bunnies are so enjoying their time I can tell and noticed this on your hutch so I felt I had to mention something.

Fab garden too by the way! :)

Great piccies -= it's lovely to see these two have got a loving home which they so deserve. I have seen them at the rescue they looked adorable.
Look forward to hearing more about them!!

Awwwww I saw these buns too they are so lucky to have found a loving home with you :love:

Also watch they dont dig out of their run as they are little terrors for digging out :)

You could get like a sheet of plywood or a few slabs to lay underneath the run
